INSTITUTE OF APPLIED INFORMATICS

The Institute for Applied Informatics association (InfAI) was founded in 2006 to promote science and research in the areas of Computer Science and Information Systems.

Since 2008 the institute has been a state-approved affiliated institute of Leipzig University. The institute conducts national and international, innovative as well as interdisciplinary research and industry projects. InfAI sees its role as transfer institute and innovation driver of solutions based on current technologies. It regularly organizes conferences, workshops, conventions, and symposia to enhance the exchange among excellent scientists as well as the exchange between science and economy.

The institute benefits from a continuously growing team of scientific employees and software developers on the one hand and consultants and trainers with industry experience on the other. With this, the institute provides a value chain for professional services: from developing innovative research results to the transfer to the economy. Therefore, InfAI can act flexibly and professionally on the market. We live applied science.

ROLE IN STARGATE

In the Stargate project, InfAI builds on its expertise in knowledge graph management based on RDF/OWL, collaboration methods in decentralized networks, interlinking, graph visualization and curation methods. InfAI will further be in charge of tasks such as (a) creation of agriculture maps using a machine learning model and (b) climate trends forecast using Albatross.
